I’m participating in the challenge this year knowing I will fail, and I couldn’t be happier. I’m not going to sacrifice my grades for this book, because my book will be waiting for me to write it, and I can only take the classes I have right now. It can feel mandatory to do NaNoWriMo since everyone’s doing it, especially on writing-related social media, but the challenge isn’t mandatory.
